Laurie Pressman, the vice president of the Pantone Color Institute, remarked that it is "a pivotal neutral tone … enabling all colors to shine."

Well, Cloud Dancer sounds… hold on, just white? Is this a prank? Can white truly be considered a distinct hue?

The public reaction, on the other hand, has been less complimentary. Some commentators have accused Pantone of being completely "out of touch." Fashion and trend forecaster Mandy Lee described it as "underwhelming." Some have even drawn parallels to implied endorsement of certain ideologies seen in other media.

I see, it's to be hoped they're happily ignorant that this isn't the best moment to be pointedly celebrating pure white... So, how might someone who doesn't follow a runway use this news in daily life? My kitchen ceiling is my ceiling in white paint, does that qualify?
